Gear in Reverse

Once so happy, lovely and glittery
Exchanging gifts like birthday everyday
Two thoughts they grow so symmetrically
To bad they hit reverse unintentionally

Cruising on glamorous highways
Blushing words whispered in many ways
She adores everything he says
He wants her now and always

It’s the perfect sugar rush
From strangers to secret crush
That leads to intimate lust
Deep down they want it to last

A perfect summer affair
A car, a couple, a highway
They had their hands in the air
But perfect never last anywhere

Once so happy, lovely and glittery
Exchanging gifts like birthday everyday
Two thoughts they grow so symmetrically
To bad they hit reverse unintentionally

Words

Words,
You can be sweet,
You melt my heart
Like fire for this heart of stone.

Words,
You can hurt my feeling,
Like a sharp knife
You stab me without mercy.

Words,
You convince me with your words,
I put my trust in your words,
Your empty words.

Words,
A sweet serenading lullaby,
A bitter poison cunningly implanted
In this heart.

Words,
I hold on to your words
Because talk is cheap
And I am a believer.

Words,
They are just lies,
Nothing more worthy then a grain of sand
Or your promises.

Rusty Love

These thoughts are bitter,
These thoughts are sad,
These thoughts they linger,
Like a fairy tale gone mad.

So I looked up the ceiling,
Watch the fan as it spins,
My thoughts are wondering,
Back to where it all begins.

A Valentine in November,
All kisses and touches;
The roses they wither,
But we cuddle and caress.

How sweet was you,
Your smile and scent,
How brutal was you,
To leave without consent.

Your lie - a destruction,
One lie and it is too late;
My love and affection,
You treated it like a playmate.

I kick away the blanket,
And the fan is getting dusty;
I lay in bed naked,
And my love is getting rusty.

16 THINGS TO DO WITH NOTHING WHEN YOU'RE BORED

Have you ever been forced to listen to a talk and it is absolutely boring but others seemed to find it amusing? Or maybe that lecturer is droning about something and you don't even know if he's talking human language, or maybe you and your room mates are all dolled up for a night at the club but the one who is suppose to pick you up is "on the way"... What can you do to amuse yourself? I got this from a friend who got it from somewhere and added more to it. I just wanted to share it with you :)

1 - This is my favourite. People would barely notice you're doing it.
Blink wildly and then close your eyes really tight for an interesting light show
(Amusement Potential: 1-5 minutes)
See a variety of blobs, stars and flashes. Try to make out shapes and see if your subconscious is trying to send you a message (perhaps that funny shape is saying, 'send all your money to me'?)

2 - You may laugh so hard so make sure that mascara is waterproof ladies.
See how long you can hold a note
(Amusement Potential: 4-20 minutes)
Not that much fun, but it sure passes the time. Play with a friend, or try to beat your own personal best. Inhale deeply and then try and make a noise for as long as you can. Earn extra points for making your partner laugh or ending on an amusing note.

3 - Random?
Try to not think about penguins
(Amusement Potential: 1-5 minutes)
This is especially hard, because by trying too much, you remember what you were trying to avoid thinking of. If you try too little, you end up thinking about penguins anyway.

4 - Do this if you're feeling insanely bored
Use your secret mind power
(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)
Pick a passing by and try to use your mind power to command them do something, like drop their bag or knock into someone. The law of averages dictates that sooner or later one of your mind commands will come true, so you can convince yourself that you really have super human powers and waste even more time trying them out.

5 - Errrmm... I won't do this no matter how bored I am (unless no one is watching ^_^ teehee)
Pretend you're a robot
(Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)
Walk down the street with mechanical movements, adding 'zzzzzt' sounds with each motion. Pretending to have a motor broken in, say, your left hand can add at least 30 seconds more entertainment.

6 - I know you want too =)
Scratch yourself
(Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)
Go ahead, scratch yourself now. Even if nothing itches, go ahead. Doesn't that feel pretty good?

7 - You and your girl friends will love this!
Rate passers by
(Amusement Potential: 10-15 minutes) For my girls and I, it could be as long as 2hours - serious!
Secretly award passers by marks out of ten as you go along, offering (unsaid) expert criticism over their clothing, hairstyle and footwear choices.

8 - Flower flower flower flower flower flower flower flower flower flower flower flower flower flower... am I spelling it correctly?
Repeat the same word over and over until it loses its meaning
(Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)
Pick a random word out of a magazine and say it aloud to yourself until it becomes a meaningless set of noises.

9 - Ouch factor
Pinch yourself
(Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)
What is pain? Why is it unpleasant? There's nothing physical about it - it's all in your mind. Plus, after pinching yourself for awhile, boredom will seem nice next to being in pain.

10 - Do this with extra caution - possibly with a team of surgeons by your side. I don't want to be responsible for any damage!
Try to swallow your tongue
(Amusement Potential: 1-2 minutes)
There's not much to say about this one. It is possible, but really stupid.

11 - Totally stupid. You do this, I hit you hard in the bum(per)
Pretend to be a car
(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)
Make appropriate revving noises in your head as you walk along and add a racing commentary as you pass strangers in the street. Use blinking eyes as indicators for extra authenticity.

12 - Just for nerds
Make Star Trek door noises
(Amusement Potential: 1-2 minutes)
Stand by an electric door to a bank or something and make that silly "Scccccccchwop" sound heard whenever people popped on to the bridge to hang with Captain Kirk.

13 - Great if you can't get out from your seat and no one around is a sport to entertain you.
Look at something for awhile, shut eyes, study after image
(Amusement Potential: 2-5 minutes)
Another great time waster. It takes about 30 seconds of staring to create an after image, and the image is then viewable for about the same length of time. Fun to combine this one with pushing on your eyes.

14 - Kids do this and they seem to have a hell of a time
Get yourself as nauseated as possible
(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)
Best achieved by looking straight up and spinning around. Try to be so dizzy you can't even stand up. This is also entertaining due to the "makes boredom seem a lot better" effect.

15 - Attention seeker
Invent a weird twitch
(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)
Adopt a bizarre twitch (e.g. flicking your head irregularly, twitching with eye or busting out sporadic cough noises) and try it out when you go shopping.

16 - Annoying~
Make a low buzzing noise
(Amusement Potential: 15-30 minutes)
Hours of fun in libraries! Keeping a totally straight face and looking nonchalant, make a low pitch humming/buzzing noise and see who reacts.

17 - *Yawn*
Yawn
(Amusement Potential 2-5 minutes)
Yawn when others are around. It is contagious!

Have fun trying!!

My Favorite T-Shirt

You are like my favorite t-shirt,
I'll wear you everyday for my comfort;
You are better than food,
I'll always be in a good mood.

My favorite t-shirt is black,
It is simple with a round neck;
And I'll always wear my favorite t-shirt
With my favorite mini skirt.

But my favorite t-shirt will sure to fade,
Like how our love will end with fate;
It will no longer be black - but a dull grey,
And it will be our ending too as we both go astray.

Love is Like... Hot Coffee

The after taste of this love is like tongue burnt from hot coffee
I need the coffee to stay sane
I need it hot to taste good
It hurts so bad at first
But I will still take it in
Little by little
One at a time
Slowly
And when it is finish I know I am satisfied
Because I had my dose of hot coffee
Early in the morning

The after taste of this love is like tongue burnt from hot coffee
Because as the sun gives way to the stars
There remains a fain throbbing feeling
At the tip of my tongue

Because I'm Only Human

Sometimes it's sweet,
The way you make me feel only human,
The way you show me we're only human;
But sometimes it hurts,
The way you are only a man,
The way you make every other woman
Feels like they're only human.

Maybe it is best if you lie to me,
Tell your lies in enchanting melody,
Hide the truth with sweet symphony;
Because the truth hurts-
The truth will burn me before I'm even in hell,
The truth slashes my soft flesh slowly
Enjoying the moment before my tears come out shyly.

This torture is my addiction,
It's like crafting your name on my wrist,
Like tasteless pills,
Like burning liquid,
Like fire behind my tongue,
Like pain that makes me feel good,
I need more...

Why am I so attached to something so unpromising?
Why can't I stop hurting myself-
By stopping you from hurting me?
Why do I need you to corrupt my corrupted mind?
Why are you keeping me when you have too much?
I will never understand you,
Neither will I ever understand me,
Because I'm only human.

As I Run Around the Lake

This is a poem I wrote to respond to W.H. Auden's poem "As I Walked Out One Evening". I've always like his poem and his style of writing and I wish that I could be as good in writing poetry as he was during his time. So, here is my version. Enjoy!

As I run around the lake one cloudy evening,
Run by Reservoir Park,
The crowds running along
Were as silent as a dog's bark.

And down by the water fountain
I heard a lover shout
Under a coconut tree:
"This is the end, I'm out.

"I hate you, jerk, I fucking hate you
Till Palestine and Israel reconcile,
And the cat barks as the dog meows
And there's a happy ending for X-Files,

"I'll hate you till the angels
Tell lies and grow fangs
And the seven colors of the rainbow turn black
Like a chain smoker's lungs.

"The hours shall crawl like snails,
For my heart is broken into pieces
Like a fragile glass flower you shattered me,
With your affair with a mutated mistress"

But all the bells in the city
Began to chime and jingle:
"O let not crooked lovers deceive you,
You cannot be forever a single.

"In the burrows of the Nightmare
Where Justice naked is,
Loneliness creeps under you room door
And murders when you could kiss.

"In heartaches and in joy
Eventually life ends anyway,
So go on and pick who you fancy
Straight or gay.

"I'm just going to say something crappy
Because I'm just a city's bell;
So don't get mad at me
And throw a cracked bell into hell.

"O but plunge your head in water,
Plunge them in up to the neck;
Try, try to breath easy
I know right, what the heck!

"The glacier knocks Titanic down into the ocean,
The desert slumbers on into another realm,
And the crack in the window disappears
Into a lane of deadly dream.

Where the Three Blind Mice rejoice for lights
And Prince Charming kills Sleeping Beauty,
And Rumpelstiltskin never spins straw into gold
And Ugly Duckling remains just as ugly.

"O look, look at your reflection,
O you're so ugly when you frown;
Life remains a joke
Although you are not a clown.

"O stand, stand at the edge
If not you are taking too much space;
You shall love your distorted neighbour
Then kick hard their ass."

It was late, late in the evening,
The crooked lovers they were gone;
The bells had ceased their jingling,
But the deep lake stayed on.

Short and sweet

You make me feel so shitty,
Like my words are all so crappy,
A typical night next to you,
My dream you built then shattered,
You make me feel so shitty,
Like my words are all so crappy.

Two Tied With A Ribbon

We are like little cats,
We chase our own tails;
We are the two in a billion,
Like two tied with a ribbon.

The Witch & The Ghoul

I finished writing this poem (The Witch & The Ghoul) on the 30th November, 2008 after I drew the picture above. It was one of those days when the semester just started and there is just nothing much to do, so while hanging in the library with my note book in front of me, I just started drawing (or doodling) whatever my hand leads me to draw. Initially, after the drawing was completed, I wanted to write a children short story but it seems a little bit too dry and uninteresting so I figured that I should write the story into a poem!
Hope you will enjoy.
G. A.

Once upon a time
In another land far from divine
Lives a witch - so kind, unwicked
Only misunderstood for looking grotesque

Her head the size of a wine barrel
Bald but a dark patch in the middle
Eyes shine like the moon - but crossed
Rimmed by shades the colour of darkness
Oh, a big boil on her forehead
Little ones call it a baby's head
A twin who lives in her evil head
But now it must be dead!
Her nose makes Pinocchio a saint
With two warts to make a madame faint
Yellow and rotten teeth under cleftlips
Not even a toad will give her a kiss
Ravens rest on her hunchback
Pay by making her smell worst than a rotten egg

A witch in a land far from divine
Has no place fit for her to dine
Not even in the moldy allies
To savour left-over jellies

With grumbling and sour stomach
The witch had enough of their mock
That was when the witch starts walking
Long before the town starts waking

Out of town, through the maize field
Along the shallow river, over the hill
Pass the meadow, into the forest
Each time taking a path travelled least
But the forest lays no path
She searchs the sun and stars leading south

For three days and three nights
She journeyed under rays of sun and stars for lights
Her sore body and blistering feet could no longer hold
Alas she found an abundant village and fell

There is a ghoul
A wondering lonely soul
This ghoul does not open grave
None would say that he is brave
Ghouls eat bodies
But this one prefers ripe berries

The ghoul saw the witch
What little heart he has twitch
The cold night breeze sends the witch a fit of shivers
What little soul he has, too, quivers
So he builds a simple hut over the witch's body
What little strength he owns is used wisely

The ghoul does not sleep
So he watches the witch dream deep

The witch dreams of another land
An island surrounded by sand
There lives a fair-lady
Who would help her to be pretty
Fair-lady says, "There's an island in the south,
Don't worry, you are at the right path
Just bring a companion to share
Challenges and happiness to bare."

The witch wakes and ponders
Where can she finds a companion - she wonders
She starts to notice the shabby hut
Last night she only remembered falling with a loud 'thud!'

Then comes the ghoul with fruits for breakfast
He scares the witch who hides badly in haste

"Oh, witch, do not hide,
I promise I won't bite.
I'm just an innocent ghoul
A wondering lonely soul.
I am disowned for I do not behave
And I can never be brave
I will like to be your acquaintance
If you would come out this instance!"

The witch who hides in haste
Is in a daze
Did the ghoul wants to be her acquaintance?
Slowly she approaches the ghoul but keeps a distance
The ghoul is a small friendly creature
Nothing evil but a jolly in nature
The ghoul munches on berries
And spares the witch with cherries

The witch had found her companion
A ghoul to share her season
To travel south then sail to an island
Where the fair-lady reign the land

A day of merry travel
Soon stumble upon a gravel
The sound of crashing waves
Like water splashing in caves

Oh, a purple painted boat
Shining like a gentleman's boot
It has ample space for two
And a feast for a journey too

The witch and the ghoul feast through the night
Their stomach now heavy but their spirit light
As the purple boat gleams in the sapphire sea
The witch and the ghoul sails into their sleep

At last, the witch shall meet the fair-lady
They walk some more until they are thirsty
And drank from a spring
So clear and clean

"You have drank from my spring"
Said a voice in a darling
Oh! The fair-lady so dashing
In her white satin and beaming
"I will bless you each with a wish
Starting with you, the ugly witch."

What else would an ugly witch wishes
If not everlasting beauty and kisses
The fair-lady grants her wish with a wink
The witch could not recognise her reflection
A girl with luscious golden hair, and face of affection

"And you, monsterous ghoul
The nation thinks that you are foul.
Make a wish you won't regret
There's nothing a fair-lady can't grant"

What else would a monsterous-looking ghoul wishes
If not to be a man to give his witch a kiss
The fair lady grants his wish with a wink
He could not recognises his reflection
For he saw a gentleman with compassion

The ending of this story they kissed
For they have what they wishes
The fair-lady never reappears
But they will always remember
As they lived happily ever after
In a land when everyday is summer

~The End~

Voyage

I wrote this poem for my Theater play-production entitle "Voyage", which is also the title of this poem. This poem is read by the main character to his wife during the last scene.

VOYAGE

The sea felt so wide
The sky unreachable
But your love for me, my wife
It has always been insoluble

How did I know it is true?
Even when I almost made you mad
And left you in the darkest shade of blue
You still want us to last until the end

You understood that I am a voyager
And my life is like a vessel
Travel into a land where I am a stranger
To teach me a valuable lesson

I regret that I had never loved you
As we both grew old with age
But this time I promise you
Love will be with me in my final voyage

Till Death Do Us Part

Tongues dancing in hollow caves
Like the coming of tidal waves
Glad it is my all that he craves
My lover to our graves
